On March 18, 2026, Coroplast Group officially opened its new production site in Schönebeck (Elbe), Germany. With this new facility, the Coroplast Tape business unit is expanding its production capacity for high-performance acrylic adhesive tapes and entering additional application areas – particularly in the manufacturing of high-voltage batteries for the automotive and electronics industries.
An investment of approximately €25 million was made in the first phase of construction at the site, located in the Industriepark West. The new facility offers around 3,500 m² (approx. 37,700 sq ft) of space for production, warehousing, and offices. The site itself covers more than five hectares (over 12 acres), providing ample room for future expansion.
By the end of 2026, around 22 employees are expected to work at the site, with long-term potential for more than 100 jobs.
At the opening ceremony, Natalie Mekelburger, CEO of Coroplast Group, emphasized:
For us, this investment represents far more than a new facility. It is a clear commitment to innovation, to industrial value creation in Germany, and to long-term growth. The Schönebeck site will play an important role in our international production and innovation network.
Marcus Söhngen, COO and Managing Director of Coroplast Group, added:
With the new facility in Schönebeck, we are strategically expanding our capacity for high-performance acrylic adhesive tapes while also laying the foundation for new product families and applications. The site offers excellent conditions for further development – both technologically and in terms of workforce.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from politics and administration, including Gunnar Schellenberger, President of the State Parliament of Saxony-Anhalt; Markus Bauer, District Administrator of the Salzland district; Stefanie Pötzsch, State Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Saxony-Anhalt; and Bert Knoblauch, Mayor of the City of Schönebeck. Sven Schulze, Minister-President of the State of Saxony-Anhalt, said on the occasion of the opening:
The commissioning of the Coroplast site in Schönebeck marks an important success for Saxony-Anhalt as a business location. The investment of around €25 million strengthens our industrial base, creates high-quality jobs and generates additional value for the region. At the same time, it demonstrates that our state can compete successfully in the international competition for business locations. Industries of the future like this play a key role in actively shaping the transformation of our economy and further strengthening Saxony-Anhalt’s profile as an attractive investment destination. I am very proud of this.
Production in Schönebeck is part of a multi-stage manufacturing process within Coroplast Group. Materials produced at the site are subsequently processed and converted in Wuppertal, Germany. Together, the two locations complement each other and strengthen the company’s overall expertise in adhesive tape solutions.
