Since the beginning of 2020, we have been receiving mainly bad news about the pandemic. We are therefore even more pleased to present to you here a demonstrably effective method against the spread of the novel coronavirus.
SARS-CoV-2 can be detected on surfaces such as stainless steel or plastic for up to 72 hours after application. This is quite different with copper: in a study conducted by the US National Institutes of Health, no viable Corona viruses were found after 4 hours. This effect can also be observed with many other viral and bacterial pathogens. This is because copper is one of the antimicrobial materials that can reduce, inactivate or kill microorganisms.
With our copper adhesive tape, this property can be used in an uncomplicated way to effectively protect your environment. At the same time, Coroplast 7139 has a higher ion release compared to solid copper. This significantly accelerates the inactivation of pathogens. Thanks to acrylic adhesive, the tape sticks excellently to a wide variety of surfaces. And, of course, the product can also be removed again easily. This way, the virus and bacteria protection can be quickly removed or renewed.
Our copper tape is just right for your environment if you are looking for a solution that ...
The idea behind our Coroplast 7139 copper adhesive tape is as simple as it is effective. Our customers can use it to take advantage of the antiviral effect of copper and interrupt transmission chains in an easy way.
1. Celaning
Clean door handle so that it is dry and free of oil, grease, dust and dirtt.
2. Application
Apply the tape with the long side on the handle surface and wrap it around, completely covering the entire contact surface.
3. Finish
Press the tape firmly over the entire surface by hand. This creates a secure bond to the surface.
The tape adheres to all smooth and metallic surfaces.
Coroplast 7139 can be cleaned with tissue and common cleaning agents. In the case of very heavy soiling that cannot be removed, we recommend replacing the tape to restore optimum effectiveness.
The adhesive tape should be renewed at regular intervals. At the latest, however, when signs of wear appear on the tape.
Oxidation of copper is a natural process and does not degrade the antimicrobial effect.
To contain the spread of pathogens, surfaces must be regularly disinfected. Especially in train stations, office buildings, shopping malls, airports, healthcare facilities, schools or large residential buildings, this is difficult to maintain. Therefore, contaminated surfaces often remain a threat for days, which in the worst case can lead to a so-called "super-spreading event."
The NIH study therefore investigated how long SARS-CoV-2 viruses can survive on different surfaces and infect people. To do so, they selected widely used materials. While the virus remained detectable on cardboard for 24 hours and on stainless steel and plastic for up to 72 hours, no virus was found on copper after 4 hours.
This result shows that with copper there is a surface that reliably kills the virus. This is good news for all environments with critical, frequently used grip surfaces. Because there is a solution that can be used to interrupt the transmission chain.
